The Internal Family Systems (IFS) – part therapy – is a powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy that invites and welcomes all parts. It involves integrating emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. It is a new and an empowering paradigm with a deep understanding that as humans we are multidimensional beings – made up of many aspects: sad, angry, proud, disappointing, broken, upset, scared parts and so much more…
The mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Although, to often society approaches certain behaviours with blame and shame; this creates common behavioural patterns that can spiral of control and need to be released.
Ultimately the goal of IFS therapy is to help you reclaim your core Self and heal burdened parts.
IFS offers a paradigm shift, where there are no bad parts, but parts that have taken on protective roles and carry burdens shielding their naturally valuable states. The process gives an opportunity to unburden and heal young parts that suffered trauma in an early life and helps to harmonizing the mind by accepting and healing the ‘Self’. Plus, when our broken parts are healed, it can help the world become a more compassionate place.
What will happen during a session?
As an IFS therapist I will work with you in a collaborative way to guide you in the therapy process and help you access – and remain – in your core Self. I will support you as a compassionate and skilled companion while you focus inside and become mindful and curious about your experiences. The process will help you gain understanding of your internal world and how it affects your life.
Accepting and recognizing burdened parts must happen for your internal system to be reorganized. This is how healing begins.
